Thalassophiles is a term used to call a person who loves the ocean or sea. Cebu Ocean Park is a haven for Thalassophile individuals who can’t leave the City on impulse to travel far north or south just to visit the beach.
Cebu Ocean Park
In late 2015 SM Supermalls began its partnership with Cebu Sealife Park Inc. to construct a marine theme park in Cebu City with Cebu Sealife Park. Cebu Sealife Park Inc is affiliated with the operators of Manila Ocean Park. In March 2016 the groundbreaking of the Cebu Ocean Park began. Cebu Ocean Park covers 10,000 sqm, that 2,000 sqm larger than its counterpart in Manila which only has 8,000 sqm. Everyone can now enjoy Ocean Park without flying to Manila.
Thalassophile meaning
Are you the type of person who loves and is somehow magnetically to the ocean or sea? Can you spend hours staring at the sea?
“Thalassophile” derives from the Greek terms Thalassa, meaning sea, and phile or Philos, a person or thing having a fondness for a specified thing.
Cebu Ocean Park Attractions
There is a whole lot of different attraction that you can enjoy inside the park. Although I wasn’t able to visit all of them but here is a quick list of attractions to check out
Jungle Trek
- Go on a long arduous journey by foot in their mini jungle which highlights the ecosystem.
Creepy Critters
- Critter is an informal word for any living creature, from a wolf to a spider
- this area allows children to watch snakes and other insects
Lorries Loft
- this area have lories and lorikeets which you can have the privilege of feeding
Seven Seas
- you can catch a glimpse of the colorful world of reef-dwelling fishes from all over the Philippines
Bird Show
- There are intelligent birds consisting of macaws, cockatoos that can provide remarkable showmanship and high-flying thrills.
Oceanarium
- this is the largest and deepest Oceanarium in the Philippines with 360-degree viewing tunnel
Main Tank Gallery
- it has an impressive depth of 7.2meters.
- you ca just sit on the bleachers and watch the creatures of the deep swim by.
Gift Shop
- you can buy plush animals, toys, apparel, gifts, books and other souvenir items
Aqua Dining by Cebu Ocean Park
After a long day of exploring the different attraction, you can enjoy a magical “Underwater Dining” experience in a safe environment.
This is only available every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Their main tank and oceanarium area are transformed into an intimate restaurant with a dreamy underwater view.
While dining, enjoy a view of our majestic shipwreck and observe marine life as they appear in their natural habitats.
